Applications invited for Project Officer - 19 June 2009
6 Month contract (Part Time)
The Pharmaceutical Industry Council (PIC) in conjunction with the Research and Development Taskforce (RDTF) is seeking a person with relevant clinical research experience to assist the RDTF achieve the key objectives identified at the 4th PIC-RDTF Forum held in March 2009.
To be successful, the applicant will need to have a broad understanding of the critical issues confronting the pharmaceutical industry, as well as a proven track record in stakeholder and project management. A key deliverable of the role is the ability to use data to articulate the social and economic benefits of conducting clinical research in Australia.
Funding for the position has been provided by the Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research (DIISR). The contract is for a period of six months and is expected to require a commitment to 3 days per week.
The successful candidate will:
- Complete the draft PIC RDTF work plans, and accompanying stakeholder, communication and advocacy plans with a view to improving Australia’s global competitiveness in the clinical research arena.
- Collate existing benchmarking data and identify additional data gaps.
- Classify metrics data with regards to lag and lead indicators.
- Assist the RDTF Timeliness Working Group to identify barriers that impact the rapid introduction of streamlined study start-up approach with particular reference to the NHMRC HoMER project and mutual recognition arrangements between the Eastern states.
- Prepare a state by state report on the current and planned implementation of electronic medical records in state public hospitals through identifying and contacting relevant officials in each state.
